Ownership Transition

Ownership transition may be the largest and most important financial decision you will make during your lifetime. Given changes in tax laws, the global economy, capital markets, your industry, family dynamics, and other issues, the world is more complex than ever before. Financial planning must be aligned and well-thought-out in order to have a seamless, efficient and harmonious transition.

This workshop is designed to help you get started by exploring these 5 key questions:

  • How should I transition my business?
  • When should I transition my business?
  • What is it worth?
  • Who should benefit from my financial success?
  • How should this all be coordinated, implemented and communicated to my shareholders, management team, and family?

Join PNC Bank’s Joe Fahey- CFA; Sr. VP; National Director; & Business Succession Planning, Ginny Saloom- Managing Director, Robby Russell- Commercial Banker, and Jim Benedict - Senior Wealth Planner; CPA; & CFP as they take a look at the pros and cons, and financial implications of ownership transition. We'll further the discussion by taking you through PNC's proprietary model and process that can help you evaluate your options to keep, sell or ESOP.

The Business Leader Lunch series features local and national business leaders who share stories from their personal and professional lives. This is a program of the UNC Asheville Family Business Forum, whose mission is to provide learning opportunities to help closely-held business owners succeed professionally and personally.

About the Speaker

Joe Brumit owner of Brumit Restaurant Group and president of Brumit Development Company has lived in the Asheville area since 1988 and is very involved in the community through charitable, non-profit and civic organizations, including: United Way, Mission Hospitals, Asheville Chamber, Western North Carolina Foundation, Appalachian State University, UNC-Asheville, and Western Carolina University.

About Brumit Restaurant Group (BRG)

Brumit Restaurant Group operates Arby’s restaurants in North and South Carolina. Joe Brumit started as a franchisee in 1988 with 13 Arby’s in western North Carolina. Since then, he has brought on two partners, JoAnn Yoder, COO, who has worked with Brumit since 1989, and Greg Catevenis, CFO, since 2008. Together with a very talented team of people, they operate 56 Arby’s restaurants across North and South Carolina.

Members of the Family Business Forum may attend this event for free. The cost for non-members to attend is $25 per person.

Registration is required. Admission is free to Forum members and $175 for the public.
